Whilst I was living in Rwanda in 2007 I helped in the preliminary stages of a project to set up a day nursery for orphaned and abandoned children. The project is now open and has 55 children attending, some of whom are fee payers and others who are sponsored for their daycare. The Tubakunde Project goes from strength to strength and has recently opened Excel School which offers lower primary education to the older children. I visited the project in August 2009 and it was incredible to see how different the place was full of children. While I was there I recorded songs and dances and collected Rwandan rhythms to use in this country. Some of my workshops build on my link with the project and I have lead many sessions on life in Rwanda and created posters and educational toys to send out to support the project. I am happy to engage adults or children in an exploration of Rwandan traditions and customs and/or to enable people to make a practical contribution to the Tubakunde Project.
